Couldn’t find a pictorial in G740 of exactly where to place the welting on the fuel tank. Any help? Thanks

The topic has been kicked around a lot here on this web site. Search the old posts for more replies.
The long three go left to right under the tank taking care they allow free flow of moisture to the tank well drain hole. I believe the skinny pieces went under the two raised tank flanges.

Of course the repop kit doesn’t have the dimensions listed in G740....I’ll use common sense...thanks for that reference I saw it but thought someone would have a picture I searched the photo files but didn’t see any. Wes I have a question about metering rod will put in a new post...

From what I recall I think it is 3 strips front to back equally spaced. I didn't use original canvas on mine but some sticky foam 1" strips.
The original tank I took out had canvas and it was really rotten, like paper as if it had trapped the moisture between tank and body and never really dried out.

Just an FYI. There has been a reproduction by MIDWEST MILITARY of the rubber ring gasket that goes around the drain hole under the tank . Its mentioned in the ORD 9 but I have never seen one on a teardown.

I use rubber strips rather than canvas; that traps water. I know, not original, but you can't see it anyway.
