I was thinking about wraping the exhaust pipe from the manifold to down under the floor pan to keep the heat off the fuel pump, fuel line, stop light switch wires, horn switch wires, master cylinder. Also would keep the floor from getting hot.
On the Aircraft Spruce site I saw some insulation that is made for this purpose.
What do you think about this. I don't see where I could cause any problems doing it. What are your views?

I used header wrap on a AMC 401 that runs close to the fire wall and it helpedbut, my 134 has never ran hot enough to need it. One of the first MWO's was to reverse the bend of the fuel pump to carb fuel line that stoped most vapor locks. As these jeeps are not driven as much as they were I don't see the wiring being heat damaged for a long time. Of course it is hotter in Texas than out here in the SF bayarea.

Ken, can you explain a little more about on reversing the bend of the fuel line to the carburator.
Before I started this restoration I used the jeep for getting around on a hunting lease out in west texas. I remember the floor got real hot at the accelerator pedal. But now for winter driving thats good.
I was just thinking if I was going to insulate it, I should do it while I had the fender off.

On mine I brought the fuel line up from the pump and then ovr to the carb, as opposed to over then up as in the photos. This takes it away from the exhaust...
As for wrapping the exhaust, it gets hot, but I have never had any problems running mine...all the wires are carefully routed to stay away from the exhaust and the military insulation is a bear to melt...
