M38 fuel tank v. body bolt

The fuel tank sets over a body bolt that fastens the body to the frame. There are silencer strips between the floor pan and the tank. Should the strips be thick enough to prevent the tank from resting on the bolt head? Possibly I'm over thinking this.

There should be a cage nut in the hat channel there. You bolt from the bottom up and if stock, you shouldn't see a hole there anyway.

The pan is a replacement from years ago. It doesn't have a hole so I thought it was an oversight by the vendor. Thanks for the info on the cage nut.

If you note the cushion and bolt list in the M38 ORD 9 not only does the #3 body mount use different cushions on the left and right it also uses a 1" bolt on the left and a 2" bolt on the right.
Here you can see #3 left bolt goes bottom up.

My cage nut was long gone with the rusted out hat channel. I replaced the hat channel and forgot (OK, didn't know til now!) to put in the caged nut....
I also had to replace the sheet metal under the tank, so I wrongly assumed there was a bolt there when I mounted the tub. I had the same concern as you about the head of a bolt up under the fuel tank.
To mitigate the problem of a bolt head, I squared the hole in the floor pan to accept a 3/8" SS carriage bolt, The rounded head of the carriage bolt is there under the tank, but with the anti-squeak standing it off, I feel better. Only the Jeep Police will be able to spot the malfeasance....
