Or maybe not. Very modern components. Very little resemblance to the early 50's Bendix Scintilla components. Stick with the manual that applies correctly to your subject connectors.

Obviously it's a modern document, and there are obviously many variables involved in dozens of different style Cannon connectors. I only meant to show that the general construction and overall assembly/disassembly procedure (including some of the same tools that you posted a picture of) haven't changed much in 75 years. We can agree to disagree --- in my opinion, the resemblance of a 75 year old connector to one made yesterday is clear. It's a good design.

There are several useful hints and nugget photos and diagrams in that document that even today might contribute information (in addition to the Manual) for someone unfamiliar with these type connectors.

I find it much better to not flood this web site with incorrect data. It tends to increase the risk of an error on the owners part that only he gets to pay for. Advice should limit itself to data specific to the application being questioned. Not everyone on this web site has your level of expertise in avionics work. Yes when the poster has an interest in unrelated info it is probably a better idea to chat it on facebook!

I didn't think it was a "flood" or "incorrect data" (as I described it, general information only) and I usually assume most of us here are smart enough to either take information or leave it as each's need be. Again, no harm or foul was intended. I had the silly idea that while I know little about the M38 and struggle to learn it, that I might contribute to the knowledge base in a different way. Oh well.......

My postings here point out that sharing information that is actually not at all germain to the poster's situation and is more likely to confuse the issue should be avoided. It is my intent to provide a level learning field for folks trying to learn more about their jeeps and solve their jeep problems. If I were playing a "my game my rules" I would have deleted your post. I am simply asking you to think more about what you post and weather or not it is truly helpful or may confuse the topic before posting it. When we lay the groundwork for confusion it is not we that pay it is the the poster with the problem that pays for any damage or wasted parts/labor.

C'mon Wes, your postings sure do have plenty to do with it. I've been to a county fair or two.

While I certainly don't want to drag Ralph's original post any further off TDC than I already have, maybe this needs to be said.

I'll certainly think more about what I post, including whether I think it can be helpful - or at least not confusing to any of the 5,000+ members here. That's a tough judgement call considering I don't live in your head. Will you let me try? Do any of us need your approval before posting, or just me? Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's neither a practical rule nor the intent of a generous gentleman operating such a priceless public resource as this forum.

I'm not sure why you and I seem to have friction. I don't enjoy it and am pretty sure you don't either. I notice the same between you and a few others here. Not sure why. I'm not sure how or why this cut from another thread (that was locked but now isn't) got posted here using my name and with this title, but it wasn't me.

I split it from RG's post because we took his post to far off topic which was very unfair to him, which was why I locked it. But RG asked me to unlock it so he could update his post. I assumed it would not be fair to you to just delete your postings. So here they are! I thought I had also moved this to a more appropriate board but looks like it didn't relocate. I'll take care of that now as well.
