Nice almost all org 1952 M38 CND for sale. The good - Almost all org. Seems to be mostly a survivor. CND M38s are very rare under 3000 made as compared to almost 50,000 US. Rebuilt carb and all brake components are new. Runs great no shake or shudder at any speed does not jump out of 2nd at any time. The bad- 12 volt now with non waterproof system. Some rust repair not perfect but good. Old dent on right rear looks to be not repaired correctly. Non org is the 12 volt and the lock out hubs on the front axle. The tool box was repaired at some time and is about 2 inches deeper than stock. Jeep is in AZ with clean title and AZ registration as Historic Vehicle. I have the complete roof with a few spare pieces and the canvas is good but the windows are not great due to age. Asking $17,750.

You are right only about 45,000 M38s in 51 and 52 were made. The M38a1 was 100,000

Those are difficult figures to determine accurately from available historical data. Close is the only possibility!

The M38 US Production is the simplist since we had 6 prototypes and 62,328 production units for a total of 62,334.

The M38A1 becomes a wee bit more difficult using historical data because of a lot of inaccuracies and errors in available documents. Also we have have US produced prototypes, MDXXXXX"s, Export groups (had their own serialization) including part of the M38A1CDN production run was done at Willys/Kaiser as well. But at least 84,000 MDXXXXX's were produced in Toledo along with however many of the export units were built there.

According to the M38 Reference Guide the M38 was made in 1950, 1951, and 1952.
