Help identifying 11" brake components on M38a1

Post by VTM38a1 »

My M38a1 has an 11" brake conversion. I need to replace the wheel cylinders, shoes and drums but don't know what vehicle my brakes are from. The drum has the number 35582, the shoes 41717 and the wheel cylinder has no number but is a 1 1/8 inch bore. Sorry but I don't know how to attach a pic here.

Could be 11" drums from a '72 CJ5.

Front wheel cylinders:

RAYBESTOS WC18290
RAYBESTOS WC18291

Both are 1 1/8" bore.

How wide are the shoes?

2 inches wide. These are the rear brakes btw. Someone on Steel Soldiers thought the brakes might be 60's Ford F100.

This is a very good time to learn how to post photos here. A picture is and always will be worth a thousand words! Without them you have offered us very, very LITTLE INFO to offer any advice on. Did you offer your steel soldier's post with photos?

It is easiest to post photos here with your own album here but you can post photos here easily from other on line albums. This current version of our Forum's software does not allow posting directly from your personal computer files.

I would need to know:

1 - Make, year model installed on?

2 - Are these a stock installation?

3 - If they are not stock then name of manufacturer of modification kit and part number of the modification kit.

I did a bunch of poking around. Now not saying this is correct but I have found suggestion that they may be from the front of a 67 for longbox. Definitely get a lot of ford hits for those numbers. Take this as you will. Perhaps your local parts place might have some on hand to compare with, probably not but you don't know without asking.
