Distributor Condenser rubbing on cam

I just overhauled my distributor with a new innards and a new (inside) condenser, but the engine runs bad.
I realized that the point gap would change on it's own and further inspection proved that the condenser was rubbing against the metal cam, moving thus the whole plate.
I found a smaller old condenser clamp that keeps it just away from the cam with a gap of only .010, so my engine now runs ok.
This sounds strange, could it be that the condenser I have is bigger/thicker that it should be, or it's clamp is not original?
Thanks ahead !
Aris

Compare it to a correct condenser & clamp. Or post a photo of what you have.

Now take a look in your TM 9-804 or TM 9-8012

Then take a look at your ORD 9 SNL G-740:

You should try to confirm the part number of your current (too fat) capacitor and compare it to the correct part number capacitor:

Got it, the ones I have sure look too 'fat' and the bracket is not part of them. I'll have to do some mod so they dont touch the metal rotor, till I get my hands on the correct ones
Thanks Wes!
