I know this has been discussed to death but I found this product that seems viable for the M38 transmission and transfer case. Or is it? Thought I'd ask before I ordered it. Thanks.

Be careful using synthetic oil in your transmission, they tend to be to slippery not allowing the gears to stop spinning between shifts causing them to grind.

I use 90wt Mineral Oil in all of my old trucks...sold at Tractor Supply as Ford Tractor Transmission Fluid.

Good advice. The same goes for modern engine oils. Your engine, tranny, transfer were not built for use with these 21st century fluids.

Just another option is Driven Racing Oils. https://drivenracingoil.com/ They have a GL4 80W-90 oil safe for yellow metals, good in the classic transmissions. There hot rod and classic engine oils have the added “zinc” content for older or high performance engines with flat tappet camshafts. I use these oils all the time in older vehicles with good results.
