I busted one of the the u joints on my Ramsey's shaft, I measure it for the 25/32 shaft, can anyone point me in the right direction to find one please?
Cheers,

Midwest Military has NOS slip joint universals for the winch. If you need the non-slip yoke one, you can take 2 of the slip yoke type and convert them to one non unit. These are not online to order so you would need to contact us directly.

Thanks John, I will get in touch with them even though I don't know the difference between the slip and non slip type👌

Aries, Your M38 Parts manual shows the 3 identical u-joints and the 4th odd one.

Yes Wes !!! I have one of the three XX with its thick pin busted. Any idea where to find one? My other option is to turn-make a new brass or steel thick pin on my lathe, but I don't think I can also make the lubricating hole with spring and ball that are gone. Do you think it will work without those for occasional operation? Sorry for the tech question🫡

I would not risk it. If it failed under a high rpm load it could easily damage nearby components. I believe John posted he had new ones at Midwest Military Parts.

Got it Wes, but Midwest as well as QTM do not have it, I found something in Aliexpress for 5 euros so when it comes in I'll know if it is worth a thing, otherwise I'll go to a good machine shop to have them make the pin with proper specs.

BTW FYI the reason the Ujoint got busted is because one of the 8 screws that mount the winch on it's frame wes LONGER than what it should be and it is the one in line with the brass gear inside the unit. It damaged the brass teethe but i think not too bad for it to work again ......

Thanks again,

One more question Wes, now that I'm painting the unit olive drab as the Jeep, should the Engaging Lever also be painted or left to age in it's brass 'patina' colour? What was it like back then?
Thanks again,
Aris

EURECA! I managed to repair the broken pin on the original U-joint, but also found a source on Aliexpress. They come in millemeters but will do the job and they come also with 'key' slot.
