I have been working a thread on the G503 site under the M38 technical section. I am having trouble with the carbuetor filling up the manifold with gas. Installed a new kit last fall and it ran. Have not started all winter and decided to get it running again. All it does if flood out. I have been through this thing several times with no luck. I have adjusted the float, have good spark, gallons of gas. The one thing I do need is instructions on rebuilding the carburetor. All that came with the kit I purchased last year was an explosion of the parts.

Wes, this is exactly the same problem I had, and like I said before, If you put the wrong gasket between the upper carb body and the lower (manifold throat) (black), it will dump fuel into the manifold. Remember you had some pic's of the two openings? one was small and one was big. There is a channel there, that the large (opening) gasket will not cover. This guy may have to make a gasket that has the same opening.

Late last summer, after the jeep sat for years, I got started trying to start the jeep. I rebuilt the carb. than and it started right up. It could be a gasket issue but it worked last year with the current gasket. The gasket I had to make was the one between the top and middle section of the carb. It tore between the bowl where the float is and the throat. I have made a new one but it is maby half again thicker. The problem started before I made the gasket so I dont think the gasket is the whole issue.

At this point, I feel I have to purchase a new rebuild kit. It worked last fall, hopefully it will work again.

I have rebuild the carb. I am still having problems. Engine will not start, still floods out. I thought it might be the fact I did not have the priming kit attached. I removed the fittings and pluged the holes in the maniford. I have checked and have fire at every plug. I do have a question on the carb rebuild. The diagram that came with the kit and the diagram that I downloaded show two different location for the spring on the metering rod. What side the the diaphragm does the spring go on.

Thanks Wes. I have it as you have shown on the post. I am making progress, it tries to start but will not maintain itself when I let of the starter.

Check that Gasket! Like I said before, This mistake will flood the engin.

Are you talking about gasket "Q" in the above diagram or the gasket that goes between entire carb. assy and the manifold?

Yes, the "Q" gasket. I wish I can explane this better for you but I can on this forum. I will e-mail you my phone number.

Just noticed you did not list your e-mail.

The AJP and MWM kits come with all parts and gaskets for both the YS637S and the YS950S. You must make sure you use the correct parts.

Since the carb bases and bowl asemblies are ported very differently the "Q" gasket must be the correct one for the carb. The same applies to the metering rods.
