Hi,
During the last weekend I found this and I would like to know your opinion. I have a m38a1 with the original carburetor but I always have problems with the diaphragm.
What do you think?

What is your location?

I think you could send your carburetor to Scoutpilot for a complete rebuild and have a much better and cheaper solution than spending either $650 for a 2-barrel carb or $350 for a "universal" carb from KW.

And KW is notoriously over priced.
Shop around for much better deals if you have to buy a carb.

Without cam changes or valve enlargements the two barrel kits can't realize their advertised potential for increased performance. I've operated the YS637S and YS950S carbs for well over 50 years now with very few problems. The two diaphragms will give trouble with age when they get past 10 years old or so if not driven often. However I have found that the real issue with short life diaphragms is when you buy offshore kits that do not have diaphragms designed for use with modern gas supplies. Namely modern unleaded fuels. The same diaphragm issues exist for fuel pumps as well. $629 is a big jump to fix two $10 diaphragms.

As I mentioned in my first post, my m38a1 have a YS 950. I know Scoutlpilot and he rebuilt my carb.
I am going to continue using my original carter, I just wanted to know opinions and experiences with other carburetors.
Wesk, for you, what is the best kit on the market? I really use my Jeep very little and I have to change diaphragm

I usually buy my kits locally at Napa store. Ron Fitzpatrick's and John Bizal's kits I also use.

Another tip on improving your carbs behavior when not driven much and using modern auto gas is to go to your local airport and buy some 80 (red dye) to 115 octane (blue dye) Aviation Gas and mix it 50/50 with your modern autogas. I do this on my old MV's and tractors.
