September 1952 production M38A1 serial 17490. The Hood with original number is 2094881. It is original paint on the hood showing below several layers....as with any jeep of this age the hood could have been a swapped but just checking to see if this hood number sounds about right before I order stencils.

Seems plausible. I have a 9/52 M38A1 with serial number 18343 and a hood number of 20960522 (except one digit longer than yours. Are you sure yours is 7 digits long?).

You both have 7-digit registration numbers?
I thought they were all 8-digits by then (before they switched to the 2A XXXX format).

You sir are spot on! Which is why I wanted to ask! The number is 20948881. Three 8s instead of two.
