Engine timing

Post by davistroy »

Is there such a thing as a 24V timing light? Where can I get one of those spark plug adapters shown in the manual (fig. 77 on page 171 of TM 9-8014)?

Interested in how do you guys do this?

You can use a 12v timing light, just put it across one battery...

You can find the 24v adapter kit on eBay or check with the vendors... They average about $40 and are used on all the 24v stuff in your jeep...

Hope this helps...

In case you are not real familiar with the dual 12 battery system if you tap the positive terminal of the battery whose plus cable goes to the starter and the fram you'll get 24 volts. If you tap the positive terminal of the other battery and ground to the frame you'll get 12 volts.

If you study the plug adapter you'll see how easy it is to come up with your own home made adapter.
