Need help with VIN

Post by PaulB »

Hi all, I need some help and guidance. From some previous emails, I mentioned that all the data plates were removed from the M38 some yrs ago and lost. Well now I am getting it restored, while I am deployed. Since I was told it is a Sep 50' to Sept 51' M38 I guess I will just have to pick a number between MC10001 thru MC34151 to put on the title. :? I don't know if there is a better way to do it. I'll still have to look at the front and rear axle tubes to see if I can find a better date range. Any ideas before I make the big guess. Thanks. :)

How does Tenn DMV handle titling a jeep without a real number tag anywhere on it? If you buy a new data plate and stamp any old number on it most DMV's will question that. They will also probably run the serial you picked. If it's already registered in someone elses name you are in for a lot of grief with the law.
