Wes, for the first time in five years my M38 developed a vapor lock.
I took a look at the fuel tank cap and the open and close markings are on the outside whereas the switch is on the inside. Q. How do you set it from the inside and know what setting it's on?

If the cap were in the closed position, and the vent line on the tank was plugged, then the vehicle would get vacuum lock as opposed to vapour lock. Vapour lock is a condition where the fuel has heated to the point of vapourising, and the pump doesn't pump vapour well. Vacuum lock is where the vacuum in the tank overcomes the pumps ability to continue drawing fuel.

The closed position on the gascap was a fording feature, and they were not meant to be driven normally like that.

I understand that but when you do events you do not know who has been messing with what.
