As many of you know the 1950 and early 1951 M38's had dash serial plates that only listed the year of manufacture.

Sample 1950 with winch

Sample early 1951

Sample May 1951
I want to ask those of you in this September 1950 through about May 1951 period who have year only serial plates to help me build a more accurate data base by providing me some answers to these questions. Just email your answers to me at wsknettl@centurytel.net and those of you with digital cameras please try to send me a detailed (readable) digital photo of your serial tag and responsible agency tag.
Questions:
1: What is your M38's serial number?
2: What is your M38's contract number (bottom of serial plate)?
3: Please list the serial numbers from all distributor, voltage regulator, generator, and starter ID tags on your jeep.
4: Please provide any dates found on the engine, tranny, transfer, and front and rear axles.
5: Which of the above serial plates best matches yours?
6: Does your serial plate say with winch (W/WN)?
PS:
Close up digitals of all data plates are always welcome at my email addy.
