This was emailed to me from Ken Perkins.
1) neck seems to sit a little high, angle appears correct though
2)rear bracket should be .375 to the right
3)straps in fine
4)does not fit perfect in my tub, others may vary
5)sender and pick up fit correctly
tank appears better built that the early ones, seams are well put together
go ahead and post for the others to check out

I have two fuel tanks, and both are in so-so condition. Definitally not something I want to use right now, but both I think are fixable.
Anyway, if this thing is in my price range - I might think about it - which prompts me to my question - how much did this run for approx?

I have seen the tank listed from Ron over at G503 for $235.00...
My question is does the tank have the brackets for the fuel filler extension/strainer in it? On picture appears to have it but I was not sure.
I will probably get one down the road, as my tank is crumpled and needs work. It has been covered with some type of gray epoxy.

Hal,
Ken said that it does have the brackets in the neck of the tank for the tube with the screen.
The first and second photos show the tank opening with the strainer part way in.

For me, the only thing bumming me out is the location of the rear bracket. I would hate to have to attempt to grind it off and weld a new one on in the correct location.
As far as the neck not being centered in the gasket, I guess one could trim the rubber gasket to give the illusion it is centered.
Ugh.

Ryan, did Ken say how and from whom he ordered this tank? It looks much better that the previous tanks available, and I would like to buy one, but I don't want to wind up with one of the older tanks that are so poor quality.

Chuck,
Ken sent over an original tank to the MD Jaun company. I think he got this as part of the deal.
Before ordering from someone, ask which tank they are selling.

Hi All, having chatted with Ken many times over the past few years, I am quite sure the following question is not applicable but just in case, Ken, did you have the 5 anti-squeak strips under the bottom? I was just wondering if these were not in place if it would cause the centering referred to above to be off. Neither the 1951 or 55 Ord 9 shows the thickness of these strips although they do contain the width and length. I ordered bulk materiala from McMaster-Carr to make mine and I think I used 1/8"inch thickness. So far, I have not seen any pictures of just exactly how they were placed under the tank but someone way back sent a picture of some they thought were originally placed that were found when the tank was removed---very scrambled. Ben, I didn't insert the anti-squeak I did not feel that 1/8 inch would make much difference. I beleive the anti squeak to be the same material as the material used in the G503 group

Looking at Ken's filler neck photo adding the squeak pads will raise the tank and aggrevate the already high postion of the filler neck. On the other hand using a varied thickness approach with thin on the left and thick on the right it would bring the filler neck down in the body opening.
On the strip tiedown clip issue, I would just build an offset strap that would accomadate both the tank bracket and the original bolt hole in the floor.
