M38A1 top bows bracket types and correct positions

This topic deals with the late model M38A1 (1962) top bow stowage brackets types and positions. Although the rear one was identical as in the earlier models, the front one is different old vs. new.
The question is: what is the correct position of the front one, with the "lip" pointing to the outside of the body? and also, does the diagonal part of it face front or backwards? Am I clear???
