How was the data plate for the fording cable mounted to the dash. If screwed, what would the correct screw be?

What is the correct screw to hold the ring that holds the rubber boot around the transfercase shift levers in place?

Thanks for the info.
New question.
When I mounted the fording data plate, even though the screw holes matched the dash, the hole for the cable was off by 1/4". The data plate hole is low by 1/4". Could I have a data plate for a different jeep, say M38A1 or could this be a cheap repro? Another thought is the plate for the early and late tubs are different. From research and info from Wes, I have an early tub.
One last question to Wes on the picture posted in this thread. What is the small unused hole in the bottom left corner for?

Some one sold you an incorrectly made data plate. The hole for the cable isn't cut properly to match the hole in the dash. The lay out of the lettering is also different from the correct one. Same thing happened to me.

No one has come with a use or intended use for that hole yet.
Ken is correct. This variation in a batch of fording plates was covered in detail with photos and measurements sometime back.

The new fording plates that Army Jeep Parts and I have are now totally correct. We got sick of having the defective plates delivered to us, so we had our own made. Chris, if the one you have is from me, call me and I will replace it.
