I just found a old willys motor there is not sease but was outside for a while but under an army tarp. How would you test it and how much is it worth
The owner said that is was some smoking and that's why he removed the head for the block.

When you remove the head and rotate the motor, you see the piston working and the valve too

Please I need your HELP

Long abandoned engines are always a gamble to purchase. You can usually do ok if you pay no more than core value for it. This is usually the $75 to $200 range.

If you trust the seller and it turns by hand I would say buy it. If it has the correct serial number for your application then by all means buy it. Try to inspect it for corroded machined surfaces, cracks, and if possible a dimensional inspection of the crank.

Additional accessories will increase it's value slightly. Does it have the correct front plate and rear bell attachment for your application?

Hi ask the owner and he said tha he put antifreeze in it to the motor so no water should be inside the motor and i think il will give me the motor and if is good i just have to pay him

PS if his motor is from a civil willy flat head would go good in my M38

The civilian L134 are identical to the military L134's when you are comparing blocks with the same casting numbers and period of manufacture. The serial number and mounted accessories are what makes an L134 a CJ2A or CJ3A or M38 engine.

I think you indicated the head was off. If so just run you fingernail up the bore and check to ring ridge at the top of the bore (this indicates the end of ring travel). Not much there and things not too rusty then go for it as Wes indicated
