I cant get the rear axle hubs off. I loosened the nut put the hub puller on the studs and put almost a full turn on the end of the puller.. The hub didnt budge. Its a 52 M38a1 and its on a tapered axle right? Thats what the manual shows. Is there anything else holding it on? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I haven't had to do this yet but I have read these instruction on how to do it.
Make sure you have the nut and washer on the shaft, and loose with a space about a 1/16" to 1/8" from the hub. With the pully bolt tight against the shaft, Take a heavy hammer and smack the pully bolt with a hard blow. That should cause the hub to pop loose.

Hi Ken,

I did that, it didnt come off. Do you know how much tension is required on the puller before you smack it? Thanks.

If you are using the correct puller (Striker type) it is really loaded.

Hi Wes,

The puller I'm using looks like that but not as sturdy. I dont know if Im loading the puller enough. I put a full turn on the end but it doesnt look like the hub is budging. Is it just the hub pressed to a tapered shaft? Its not attatched any where else is it?

Thanks for the assistance. I put alot of tension on the puller then smacked the end, it popped off. It does help to use a heavier hammer.
