Clutch adjustment

Hi everyone, my name is Jose Rubio, from Madrid, Spain. I'm restoring my M-38 and I need some help with the #@$%@ clutch thing adjustment.

My trouble comes with the distance between the legs and the press. According to the TM 9-1804a and others I adjusted the legs to give 21,4 mm. (Being that the proper equivalent from inches, I haven't got the book handy) with the clutch, pressure plate, and press already bolted to the flywheel . But once everything is in place and the pedal fitted the gearbox wont disengage no matter what I do with the pedal adjustment.

I have already disassembled the whole thing and mounted it again thinking that it had gotten stuck due to moisture but with no results. I have disassembled it again and now am in big pain.

I've been told by a mechanic to give it more clearance (up to 28mm.) but before doing the process all again I'll rather ask all of you.

Can anyone help??????

The clutch cross shaft with the two bellcranks on it is unique in that one of the arms is longer than the other but the shaft will fit either way. The short arm is connected to the clutch pedal and the long arm is connected to the clutch release cable. If you have it in backwards the clutch will not release completely.

Ok. Now I know what I was missing: An MB clutch plate won't fit with a M38 press, and upon releasing the clutch it will get stuck on it. So, just to let you all know of a stupid mistake I made: make sure you have the correct parts before you start!!!!
