i have a 1952 m38 whats the proper way to adjust my clucth
its grinds to get in first gear or reverse.once i get going its ok

You adjust it so you have 1" of free play in the clutch pedal before you can feel it start to apply pressure to the clutch.
If you don't drive it often it can start to get stuck tp it's mate IE disc sticks to flywheel or disc sticks to pressure plate. The bottom line here is drive it more.
