Vacuum system

Does anyone have the fitting that goes into the manifold and then to the vacuum pump? It's the small fitting that has a reduced hole in it that the line connects to.
Seems I'm missing that one important piece to the vacuum system.

Check out the Fastenal online catalog or give them a call.

McMaster-Carr is another with an online catalog and a service department you can call.

There are all kinds of brass fittings made by companies like weatherhead that Fastenal and McMaster-Carr sell.

Go to NAPA and ask for a Brass 1/8" Pipe Male to 3/16" inverted flare female. Fill the hole at the pipe end with solder and then drill a .040" hole in it. That is your fitting...

It goes in the line from the distributor to the "T" to the vaccume pump...

This is the only special fitting I know of...

Hey,

I am a little confused. Are you looking for the brass T that is directly screwed into the intake manifold or the restrictive fitting that screws into the windshield wiper vacuum brass T?

Ryan, the one he describes is the one with the .040" hole in it at the wiper "T"... Only one with a restriction I know about...

Yea, sorry about that Ryan/Hal.
Its the restricted one from the dist. I think I'm loosing my mind. I guess that's what happens when I'm on the road and start thinking jeep stuff.
OK, I will solder the hole and drill a .040 hole. I will also re-read the post again when I get home.
A cold beer tomorrow will clear my head, I'm sure.

I'm going to start re-doing my vacuum lines. I have to fit them up from available brake line material and wanted to know how much vacuum line I need to buy and how many brass fittings and sizes as well - aside from the one mentioned in this post. Just want to confirm things. Thanks!

Josh,
You are best capable of an accurate assessment of what materials you need by comparing your jeep model and year/serial group to the appropriate section of the ORD 9 for your jeep. You have three systems to be concerned with: ventilating system, vacuum system and PCV system.

Most tube assemblies listed in your ORD 9 will include the diameter and length of the tubing itself. It will take you probably 2 to 3 hours to compile a list of which parts you will need. You can go the easy way and wait for a close estimate from someone here who may have the same serial group M38 as yours or may not. Or may have compiled a correct list or may not have.

The jeep is back! I drove it home today from the mechanic's shop and then around the block a few times. Still a lot to do. Now I have to get the vacuum lines fitted and bent and in place but I have the T connection - just need to manufacture the brass fitting mentioned above. So, will likely be asking for more guidance in the near future.

PS If I can get photo's on here somehow I'll send some. Ryan, I'm heading over to the Sand Box next June too but we'll see what changes with all that.

Forgot to ask about the PCV and where a replacement can be obtained. Best recommendations?
