Replacement Carb

What carb will fit an M38, and run good untill I can find a YS. I have a WO but ti leaks a ton.

www.jeepdoc.com along with just about any where else that sells jeep parts. It will work well until you find the YS for your jeep

Do a thorough review of the pro's and con's of a Solex installation before committing your money $100 +, time and modifications to your M38. A rebuild kit for your WO is cheap and you can follow the manual and use this web site for your rebuild: http://mightymo.org/Proj_Carter_WO_Rebuild.html

Be sure to use the correct insulator and gaskets to isolate the carb from the manifold heat.

I still have to rebuild my original waterproef carb. Meanwhile i use already more than two years a "indian repro" solex, still works great,not the original look but good performance, very nice idle easy and cold starting. ( without the difuser under the carb. installed )

The diffuser improves atomization at low RPMs. The cold starting comparison is not a valid one. The Carter has vacuum accelerator system and Solex has a mechanical system. The Carter starts just as well under extreme cold conditions when you use the dash mounted hand primer which performs the same job as the Solex's mechanical accelerator pump system. The Solex does not fare as well as the Carter off road at unusual angles.
