Hey all,

Finishing up my rebuild of the vacuum pump. Have an issue though. When I stick the vacuum diaphragm into the body to connect onto the link, the seal which it has to go through gets stuck on it and remains on the rod of the diaphragm. I don't think this is how its supposed to work - but please, correct me otherwise. My question is, how do I fix this? Would a little gasket sealant do the trick?

Heres some pictures of what I'm talking about.

And again, thanks for your help!

Did you stake the seal?

I rebuit mine, and I did stake it. Those are the little indentations that you see around the seal in the pump body; these hold the seal in place.

Hope this helps!

Well...the metal part stays in place. That's not a problem. It isnt going anywhere. The rubber part though pops out of the metal part and stays on the rod.

I think you have the metal ring upside down. the metal face of the ring should face towards the diaphagram, the the staking holds the ring, and the ring holds the rubber seal's lip (completely covered).

Did you understand what I'm trying to explain? Maybe it's my English...

Okay - yeah - it was.

(sorry i was away for so long - was at a school for Civil Air Patrol).

Wow. I feel like an idiot, heh. Although, the way I put it in is the way I found the seal originally. Oh well. Thanks!
