Anyone have a good photo of the pieces that go in the under hood battery box? I know there are the J hooks, and battery hold down bracket, but not sure about any other pieces.
If no photo, then please tell me what the pieces are.
thanks

Which jeep Ken? I have an A1 that I can probably talk you through. I had the hold-downs and hooks, but took them off. They don't fit the modern batteries very well.

Ken,
The under hood box has a rectangular bracket. Midwest Military sells them with thier battery box. They are good reproductions.

Appology, I have a M38.
I am restoring a battery box.
The parts that I have are the "J" bolts and the rectangular bracket which holds the battery down. These are in the jeep now holding the battery on the frame base plate.
Maybe I already have all the parts required. I am not sure.
I thought the underhood battery box had to have a base bracket in the bottom of the box just like the cowl battery box has a base bracket in it.
So that is what I am not certain about.
I have the Box with lid, the "J" bolts and the hold down bracket.
Do I need any other piece to make it complete?
Ken

Ken,
Yes, there is a rectangular bracket that goes in the bottom of the battery box that the battery sits on.
Midwest Military sells a nice reproduction. There is a photo of it on his website also with the whole kit.

Thanks Ryan, I looked at the parts on Johns site but couldn't make out all the the parts because the photo was too small.

One thing to note, the J bolts for the under the hood battery box are longer than the ones for the cowl. they have to go thru the frame bracket, the bottom of the box and the battery mount to assist in holding it all together.
Check your SNL to verify...
Hope this helps...

Ok very good.
All I need is the bottom tray and the box to fender support tabs. The "J" bolts I have are the correct length.
thanks
