Distributor trouble

Hi, I have some trouble with the distributor on my M38. I find that the screw that fixes it on the back of the unit, the one that you loose when you move the distributor for timing, will remain loose no matter what I do. Seems to me that the thread is kaput. Do I have to get a new distributor body??. Any ideas??.

sounds like you need a helicoil set. you can buy at any napa store ,1/4 coarse thread .it has the drill ,the tap and the helicoil.it will make it back like new with stainless treads.

Since you are in Spain you have several options, all of which require removal of the distributor:
1-get a replacement body. (they are made from aluminum)
2-Remove it and have your local machinist oversize the holes to the next US Inch size 5/16 x20 or to the next larger metric screw size.
3-Install a heli-coil thread repair insert or a threaded solid repair insert.

Thanks a lot for the advise!. I will try to get a heli-coil kit and instal it, second option would be remachining the hole, and last of all would be getting a new distributor body. I just mounted a new axis on this one and it is frustrating to work again on something I thought was already trouble free. Thanks again for the advise.
