Post by amnon »

Can someone please advise which rebuild kit I need for this carburator on an M38A1? I was told it was a civvy carb.

Probably a Carter YF938 (4 variations - 938S, 938SA, 938SC, and 938SD).

Thanks Wes, great information. The link to the carburator shop in one of the articles is no longer valid. I ordered a kit from JCWhitney, and we'll see.
On another note, I replaced the front motor mounts last Saturday, which was a pretty straight forward job and the fan is no longer threatning the radiator. One question though, do the radiatot support rods at the bottom just go into the radiator bracket without any rubber inserts? Since the rubber in the motor mounts turned to foam (literaly) I was thinking that maybe there was some kind of a rubber bushing in the radiator bracket.

All I have found are metal rod to metal hole.

The JC Whitney kit will be a cheap import. Be careful and don't throw away any of your original parts. Also measure all replacement parts carefully.
