M38 Windshield Dash Latches

I've been struggling with getting the latches to properly secure my windshield. It looks like one of the dash hooks is not in the proper position and they do not sit high enough for the windshield latches to secure properly. I've thought about lengthening the screw holes so that I can set the hooks higher on the dash but wanted to run that by everyone.
This is probably a case of what Wes called "lard-asses" yanking on the windshield and over time forcing it out of true. It also seems that the left side hinge bolt threads are stripped and do not fully secure the hinge there. Thoughts? Thanks!

Josh,

What kind of windshield mounted cowl gasket do you have?

New ones are sometimes a little thick and need to be compressed some.

Can you post photos of the positions of things to give us a better idea?

You may need some new bolts for the latches if they are stripped.

Ryan,
I did put a new rubber cowl seal on but it didn't make a difference from the old one. I figured I probably need to get a new hinge bolt but the dash hooks for the windshield latches seem to be down about 1/2 in. I'm away right now but will take some pics and post later in the week.

Is there any difference in effort required at warm
vs. cold temperatures?

I've only dealt with it during warm temps. The difference is that the rubber would have to be very thin or that the dash hooks need to come up higher - or that everything is a bit tweaked with age.
