Subject: bumperettes
Source: all of the suppliers
Status: reproduction: overseas source

Review:

Shape/Appearance:
Overal shape seems to be correct. Appearance from 10 feet OK

Function:
This should be a bolt on item, but the holes are 3/8 instead of 1/2 inch.

Summary:
The metal is poor quality and has lots of pitting. The holes are too small and so they have to be enlarged. Spring steel is not easy to drill holes in. :x
I bought mine from MWM and I was told that this was all that was available at the time (2006)
I would not buy them again. I found a couple of good used ones to use.

Rating: 2 (1- 10, 10 the highest value)

Does anyone know of a source for better quality bumperettes or if they are now making better ones?

Not all the suppliers fall in this catagory. Midwest Military and Army Jeep Parts offer a truly correct part made out of spring steel. Ours will not bend when you bump it with your knee. Exact fit and form.

John,

These are the bumperettes I bought from you.

Yes they will not bend, but that was about the only good part.

Has the quality improved over the last 2 years?

Thanks

Yes, it has. The scale issue has gone away and they look much nicer now. The hole size is still 3/8 because these are made for the WWII first and the M series second. I should have told you that you needed to drill them out. My mistake. You still have to drill the new ones out. We don't want to have 2 different inventories simply because of a hole size. The new ones do not have any rust on them like the first batch either. Overall, much improved.
