M38A1: factory body pannel primer color?

As I start to sanding down my various pannels, I was wondering what the factory primer color on the M38A1's body pannels were?

I started looking for some painted stencils on my hood. As I was color standing an area, it looks like: one repaint, stockish green color, then a greyish or white primer color down to metal.

Any assistance with the factory primer color would be helpful. Thank you.

Should be a flat red color.

Don't be surprised to find various colors of primer.

It was a common practice amoung automotive manufacturers through the 1970's to mix in some left over paint to the primer.

On Ford and GM vehicles (especially the 60's) they would do this and you would have some panels grey primer and some a red or blue tented primer.

Mostly Willys seems to have used red oxide primer.

I'll know after all my pannels are stripped down if each one is consistant regarding layers of paint/ primer vs one or more item paint layers being different and therefore replaced sometime during its 56 year timeline.
