Good question. I think it's a combination of a few things.

1-They are NOS.

2-The bidders are smoking dope!

They have Italian manufacture lenses and the late Packard rubber pigtails.
This is an NOS pair of 24v blackout tailights. These are in perfect condition. These are surplus items picked up at an auction many years ago. These consist of US made metal buckets and internal parts plus the bulbs. The lenzes or doors were made under US contract in Italy. These are ready to install. These have the packard style pig tails on the rear. QTMPARTS.COM

I paid less than $40 for a pair of NOS taillights, someone needs to step away from crack.

Also, the doors are for the same side. A set of nice used tail lights will do the trick just fine as long as they are not rotten inside.

I had boxes and boxes of tail lights that I sold on Ebay. They all got good money. Even the rotten, crusty ones.

Then again, I think I picked up the crack pipe when I paid $70 for an NOS temp sending unit from a dealer. Then I found an NOS sender on Ebay for $5. I am still sad about the loss of my $70.
