At TDC can be confusing. With the engine's #1 cylinder TDC the points may not even be open.
You set them at full open on the high step of the distributor rotor cam without any regard to engine TDC.

Sorry about that. I guess I took it for granted TDC in this case would be TDC of any one of the four lobes on the rotor shaft. I was primarily concerned that they not try to use one of those "just beginning to open" references I've seen used elsewhere. Sometimes I think my Uncle Charlie shows and I just assume too much.
