Hi all,

has anybody got experience of fitting one of these to an M38?

after a hairy experience in my M201 I've bought a double circuit, brake master cylinder and the fitting brakets for my M38 which is stripped down again.

Installation looks fairly easy but....... there's always a but isn't there?

Instead of the single fluid port coming out of the front of the master cylinder where my 24v two pin sender plug fits; both the seperate ports for the front and rear circuits exit from the side of the master cylinder towards the bell housing.

I'm wondering if I'll have enough room for the following, fording exhaust, PTO winch shaft and the 24 volt sender unit? Yes, I'm using the correct MIL. pto but probably not the shafts, I'm trying to buy thinner UJ's etc.

I just have a bare rolling chassis at the moment and I'm trying to pre-empt problems when I start putting it all back together.

I'm considering two elbows screwed into the master cylinder to route the brake pipes out of the way but I think it could still be very tight.

I bet you can make it work, it might be a little tight. Do you have a photo of the master cylinder for reference?

Just a thought, what about routing it to some kind of proportioning block, thus diverting the location of the switch and the outlet ports to the underside of the MC between your Heat Shield"

I'm very busy for the next couple of evenings but I'll post a picture when I get the new master cylinder installed.

The proportioning valve sounds way too complicated for me and I don't really want to end up with a 'modified' jeep. The brakes work fine, just experiencing the loss of fluid on the front of my M201 came as a shock! hence this minor adaptation.

I may have to look at a remote location for the brake switch though.

Just no place on Herm's web site does it mention the M38s exhaust and PTO shaft.

And I'm in the UK, so it's much easier to pop to my parts store.

I thought somebody here might have been through this already.
