I know that this forum is for Willys Jeeps - particularly post-WWII jeeps.
However, I have a question about the merits of an International Scout or a Ford Bronco and what year is the best - for restored fun vehicle? The only correlation to our topic here is that they were direct competitors of Jeep. I'm interested in the 1960's to early 70s models. Anyway, thought I would throw that out there. IH Scout wins hands down in my book but thats just my opinion

Depends on personal taste and intended use.

The IH Scout is an old reliable and had a 345 V8 option. She's a slightly larger and heavier vehicle than the CJ.

The early Bronco 64 to 77 is a very strong competitor for the jeep in size and weight and a hands down winner in power with the six and V8's.

The late Bronco 78 & up full size is bigger and heavier than the Scout and has some very good power options.

If you really enjoy the ride of a jeep then the early Bronco is the ticket.

If you don't like the short wheelbase ride of the jeep then the portly Scout, late full size Bronco and the full size blazers are all in that range for you.

I think you've convinced me, along with some comments I got from a good friend back in MA. I think the early Bronco is the way to go. We'll see what's out there when I get back from my deployment. Thanks again all!
Oh, this is as much a toy for me as it is for my wife - she's always wanted one of those old Bronco's. But since I'll be doing most of the work on it and end up driving it a bunch I might as well steer things in the right direction!

according to Jeep, jeep vehicles have been tested, abuse tested over billions of service miles. Thats more miles than burgers sold by Mcdonalds.
