My 1952 M38 CDN had locking hubs on I want to know weather I should
keep or go back to the original, is there any benifits? They are different hubs with two slot screws to engage or disengage, if some one can tell me how to attach pictures I can send. Also on my rear axle I have a hub with the studs in it which goes inside of the drum it has about 6 inches of shaft and a key slot for attachment to axle . This doen't appear in SNL-G-740 for M38 but does in the one for M38A1. Did M38 have the studs in the drum or what?

If you intend to drive it a lot the locking hubs reduce wear on the front acle parts, and reduce steering effort and let you do parades in low 4WD so you can craw while only driving the rear wheels.

The M38 and the M38A1 used the same Dan 44 rear end with the same wheel lug studs and hub.
