Fuel pump question

Hello all,

I am currently rebuilding my fuel pump and have found that the bearing through which the shaft goes is quite worn. I don't seem to have any specs for tolerances and my rebuild kit did not include said bearing. Now to a few questions.

Does anyone know of the specs?

Does anyone know where the bearing can be obtained?

Does it even matter?

The bearing is actually just a bushing AC # 1523221, WO# 117138, ORD# A214741 and ORD Stk# G067-1500270. It was included in the original AC pump overhaul kits such as kit AC# 5593325, ORD# 8332444, and ORD Stk# G758-8332444.

The fit tolerance would be a Class III or slip/slide fit.

Take the old bushing to a quality machine shop along with your pump arms and pin that you will be installing with it and they can make and fit one for you very quickly.

I assume that the bushing should wear before everything else.

Well, it appears that I goofed and overlooked the bushing in the kit. No worries now. Disregard previous question.

This would be a good opportunity to post a photo of the bushing, ID it's material, and show it's dimensions for the next guy who may need one.

looking to buy a fuel pump for my m170, I believe its the same as the m38a1 if you know where I can buy one I would appreciate it.. craig

Many of the MV vendors such as John at MWM sell them. Some will sell without you having a core. The Carburetor shop will also rebuild a core if you have one.

Sorry it has taken me so long to get the info for this post. Issues...

I measured both the old and new bushings (in inches):

NEW
OD 0.348
ID 0.245
Length 0.741

OLD
OD 0.348 (measured at edge, grooved at arms)
ID 0.246
Length 0.750

ID of old and new shaft is 0.243.

It appears the bushing is mild steel judging by the ease of filing the old part.

I bought my rebuild kit from Then and Now Automotive at a price comparable to DiBella and others. If it matters, I have a late pump with the priming handle and vent.
