I am installing the bumper/C-channel modification for the USMC jeeps on my 1961 A1 and in all the pictures I can access, I am unable to determine if the old shackles located inside the bumpers, go back on with the modification. Anyone with an original out there that could take a look, it would be much appreciated.

Mine looks like it was USMC direct and didn't have them but that doesn't mean much.

No, once you add the marine core rear crossmember the army style shackles wont go back on, the marine cross member/rear bumper has provisions for the marine core type shackles to go on the ends of the crossmember for side lifting

Thanks for the prompt reply men. I have a kit with the longer bolts and the larger lift assemblys with pins, etc. but did not know about the stock lifts. I'm ready to put this on and did not want to go the drill twice.

Your kit must have been missing the two pages of instructions:

Very Good Wes. This site is awesome and yes, I did not get the instruction sheets. But I have one more question that is not addressed in the material so far. I received four lifting shackles, not two, and the information sheets do not specify front shackles replacement. Can I assume that I was sent too many shackles?

Read the instruction sheet more slowly. Especially the paragraph that tells you to remove the front shackle rings and discard them and install two new 5004 shackles then go to the rear paragraph that says the same thing about the original shackle rings.

Yup. I missed that part by being in a hurry. So many questions...so little time. And 67 year old eyes don't help either.

Not that it matters, but my 63 doesn't have the USMC rear lifting rings, much like the 61 listed above.
