24087 Paint Coding?

After shipping my 51 M38 to Australia I noticed it had 2 shades of OD paint applied. Majority of body colour has the post 55 brownish 24087 paint and the remainder is covered in a WW2 looking OD paint.

Prefer to stick with the brownish 24087 OD but the problem is I cannot ship the paint from USA to Australia due to hazardous materials regulations.

PPG paint supplier here in OZ require any paint coding reference that the 24087 is made up of... and whether it is a 2 pack paint etc.

Would anyone have any in-depth knowledge of this paint formula? OR recommend a paint supplier in the US that I could email regarding the 24087 formula?

24087 ID's only the final color. The TTE spec (in 1952 that was Fed Spec 3-174 Grade 1) is what you want for duplicating the original paints chemical composition. However original chemical compositions were abandoned years ago. Many parts are even outlawed today. The paints supplied today are two part modern paints and color is matched to a chip or example piece of the jeep. In your case I would remove a well protected piece of the jeep that bears the brownish shade you want and deliver it to your paint supplier and have him custom mix a semi-gloss version using a compound that you or your painter is familiar with applying and like to use.

I had a PPG dealer here match the paint with modern materials. Will look it up and get back to you. May be a few days with me going back home for this week.

Don't know If I have much faith in someone trying to match the colour from a chart. Seen too many jeeps with shoddy paint jobs that look chocolate Brown in colour instead of the 24087!!

Unfortunately due to limitations here in Australia might not have any choice!
