How complicated to fit a T98 from a CJ5 into an M38A1? Welcome comments? Thanks for your time.

Just deal with the relocating the rear engine mount aft 2" and the associated hole in the floor move. The parts from the CJ5 just get moved to the A1 (tranny, spacers (frt/aft adapters), drive shafts, and etc). The parking brake issue may or may not be easy but is doable. I have a T98 in my 60 CJ5 plow jeep which I'm replacing with a stock T90 setup. I am thinking about using the T98 with one of my Dauntless 225 V6's in my 70 CJ5 project. Great tranny.

Yes. It was available from Kaiser stock option in late 1960's CJ5, and CJ6 with the F134 engine (same basic engine and chassis as the M38A1). It is taller, wider and longer than the T90 and much heavier. It was mated to the bell housing and transfer with 1" thick spacer/adapter plates. The jeep had it's crossmember moved aft about 6" or so and the front drive shaft was lengthened as needed and the rear drive shaft was shortened as needed. The shift cane cover on the floor was replaced at Kaiser with a very crude replacement panel. It was 11 7/8" long vs the T90 's 8" length

The Dauntless 225 V6 equipped CJ5 and CJ6 had the T-18 4 speed option. Virtually identical in appearance and weight but differed in gearing and had a better internal oil distribution system.
