Just a quick fast question.......are there any differences between the mechanical fuel pump for an L-head engine and the mechanical fuel pump for an F-head engine? If I'm opting to install electric wipers and want to replace my old fuel pump with a new single action (fuel pump only) and the description of the new fuel pump says its for the L-head engine.....will it fit the F-head too.....and work properly relative to fuel pressure and volume? Thanks.

yes , same block (basically), same crank shaft, 100% interchangeable, just make sure if its a pump you need a spacer for you use one.

Thanks for the reply.....now my only question is.....How does one know whether or not the pump need a spacer or not? Is there some magical length of acctuating arm that needs to be sticking out?

If the pump you choose to use had needed a spacer on the engine it was originally specified for then you will usually need that engine's spacer. The spacers come in several thicknesses.
