I need five tires and tubes for my USMC 1961 A1. It's good that we so many choices but that also makes it difficult for me to know the best tire and most authentic; Firestone, etc. I would like some feedback on those who may have gone before me on this issue. Wallace Wade has a deal on tubes with the purchase of a set and these are US made by Specialty Tires. But should I have the Firestones? Price is a concern but not a deal breaker. I am on the left coast so shipping might be better from someone here. This may have been discussed before but not in my short tenure on the site. Thanks to all in advance.

Goodyear was the brand of the day back when. All of the new tires are acceptable. You want NDCC's for your 61. I should have used NDCC's but I got a great deal on NDT Specialty tires. If you are hung up on the absolute correct tires you will need to find good really old tires. If you want the correct style tires get NDCC's; the brand doesn't really matter.Firestone was not the vendor of yesteryear either.
This is just my humble opinion.

I believe Lucas Automotive is located in California. They advertise NDT and NDCC tires. That might be better for you for shipping cost. The STA tire that Wallace Wade sells does not have the word "Military" molded in the side wall as do some others I believe do. I know Denman Tire does, but don't know if they have any or are making any now.
