Cleaning up exhaust pipe

I have the original pipe all the way back. It's in soid condition but it is covered in rust, paint and undercoating.

If I sand blast it I will have to coat it with something but usually they are coated with zink and not painted. What would you guys use?

Blast it clean and have it sprayed with aluminum.

My pipes were in good shape except for my header to pipe connection and my tailpipe. I used a high temperature ceramic paint and it looks correct even after running the engine. It's spray paint and I got it from AutoZone. Time will tell how durable it is.

In your picture your down pipe (header to center section) is painted? That looks like metal. What is the brand?

It's Dupli-color high temp engine paint with ceramic, Aluminum color. Suppose to be 500 degree capable. It still looks good after running the engine. The exhaust manifold turned charcoal color which looks good to me also. I ran it for a couple hours reving it up and looking for small leaks. It held up fine. I don't know what it will look like after an extended road trip but I think it will show heat but still look good.
