M38 Wire #33 or #EE

I'm working on changing out the coil on our M38. While
removing the air cleaner to get to the distributor, I noticed
a loose wire, #33 with a metal shell connector, coming out
of a wrapped wire assy. just above the top of the starter.
What does this do, and where, if anywhere, should it
connect to near the starter?
It is possible, that the wire could be #EE as well. It's is
hard to see down in there.

I'll go out on a limb here and say the wire is No. 33 and should be connected to the engine sender for your temperature gauge. Soooo.....what'd I win?

Like my dad always used to say......even a blind hog will find an acorn every now and then. I'm just real lucky that the number was the same between the a-1 and the m38.......as indicated in the TM9-8012 manual on pg. 126 para (6).......whew!
On a further note......Mr. C_K...did you get my response to your question about the Mt. Suribachi re-enactment?

I've been ask to bring my M38 up to the chamber of commerce tomorrow for pictures with some other non MV vehicles so I guess they can advertise local car show.

I know all of you guys just forgot that the military wiring numbering is universal from 1948 on. Wire number 33 would have the exact same application on an M38, M43, M170, M151, M35, M60 Abrams tank and so on.

uhhhh....yeah......that's my story.....I just forgot!! hehehe......darn....and I thought I was like being so efficient going to the manual and finding a reference to wire no. 33. probably just real lucky it wasn't the wire to monitor the tension on the muffler belt!!! If I ever get an Abrams to rebuild i AM going to remember this!!
