Military Tubes For M38A1

This is a follow up question on my previous question about tires and tubes. Lucas Tires in Long Beach has the Denman tires and at the best price considering shipping for me. But when I asked about the tubes and if they have a right angle valve stem, I was told theirs do not. So my question is does the 1961 M38A1 use a staight or angled valve stem? The tubes in my current tires (light truck) have the angled stem but may have been replaced when the military tires were removed. Also, are liners for the rims a good idea or necessary on this model?

Stems were originally straight.

Liners are needed when wheels have rough surface against tubes or rivets against tube.

Thanks Wes. I try to something each day, no matter how minor, to get this A1 back to original and on the road. Guess I can rest now and watch the olympics.

Hey Mike I bought new 7.00-16 NDCC tires for my M-606 last year. My tubes are sraight stem. My rims are probably the same as yours. I reprimered and painted the wheels . I hand sanded the insides to make sure everything was nice and smooth. Then painted everything. I didn't use any liners. No leaks they have been great. Make sure you get your tires & wheels balanced. I live in MD bought my tires from Universal in PA.

Thanks topfueler. I will definately be smoothing the inside of the rims. I expect the ones on the ground to be pretty nice inside due to the limited and type of use this rig got. But it came without a spare and the rim I picked up for that is a little rough.

Something I found out checking with tire distributors re: shipping for five tires...one will ship in batches of two tires with tubes inside...and then one separately...and another will ship in a batch of two and another of three, again with tubes inside. The shipping costs vary greatly. It looks like I will pick up the tires, etc. in Long Beach on one of my as rare as possible trips back to la-la-land.

Thanks for mentioning Lucas tire,I checked them out. I received my 4 Denmans from them today, only 5 days to get them, saved $20 on each and $60 on shipping compared to other sellers. Thanks, Marshall
