Replacing M38 glass
I need to take the windshield of my M38 to a glass shop to have the cracked windshield glass replaced. Is the glass the same as a CJ5 or CJ7? Will a glass shop have the correct pattern for a M38? Approximately how much should the repair cost?

No idea on the cost, but you might want to check
out the condition of the rubber seal to the window
frame. It's possible the glass shop won't have it,
and there's one right way to install that. Reminds
me of a student who claimed "math was unfair,
because there's so many wrong answers..."

[/b]Replaced mine last year, the glass shop can remove the glass and rubber and make a pattern of the windshield frame and cut new glass and install. They usually have the new rubber to install, however there are 2 different styles of the rubber. One thing that you may need to point out to the glass shop however is that the radius at the top of the windshield is different than the bottom of the glass if you look at it carefully. I already had the new rubber for mine and they didn`t have to remove the old glass, just cut the new glass and install it. This was all done for about $100.00. Hope this helps Jim[/i]

The glass shop can use the old glass as a pattern if it is intact and original. We replaced the rubber seal on our M38 and M38A1 with AJP parts. M38 took about an hour, M38A! took about half an hour (we learned some tricks). Keep the rubber wet with Windex and use a small screwdriver to guide the glass in.
