Rear Lock-rite?

Post by oldgreentrucks »

Installing a Lock-Rite into the rear of M38A1. Have done this to M37's & Land Cruisers no problem. Pleased with the Lock-Rite. Will the ring gear need to be removed to get the pivot pin out? If so it helps me plan the time for the project.
Thanks,
Jim

Some times with a lockright you do and some times you don't depends on the ring gear. I've got a lockright in my 86 CJ7 Dana 44 with 3:73's.
When right in.

I installed one in my D44 in my '53 Cj3B (M606)I did have to unbolt my 5.38 ring gear to install my lockright, road manners are okay just take some getting use to the noises, intermittant pops from the locker unloading during a turn. If you take your jeep off road is where it will shine and you'll be glad you put it in there.
'53 CJ3B Hurricane, 5.38s, lockrights, koenig PTO winch. M606 conversion in progress.

Thank you. I have the Lockrite in several other trucks and pleased. Real easy is you don't have to take the crown wheel off.
Will expect to remove the ring gear in the Jeep.
