Shakedown drive.....

Post by mcafee »

Well, took the A1 out this morning for a 30 minute test run after rebuilding the carb and distributor. Ran like a top! Lots of looks from people. Transmission shifts good, the rebuilt brake system stopped well. All that is left to do is put the heater back in, I took it out last week when I rebuilt the distributor. Lots of power, ran right up to 55 mph, no smoke, and no miss fires. Plugs looked great when i came back, not covered in black soot. I do need to do a little work to the steering, it's not too bad though. The sector shaft (I think that's what it's called) coming out of the steering box has a little play in it. The rest of the steering seems good though, it tracks straight and no death wobble.

I will post some pics of the old girl with the winter top and doors later today. Just happy it's running good, was very frustrating last week, although this website has proved worth its weight in gold!! Thanks again Wes and crew.

Got pics to post.. The old side curtains and doors don't fit well, but they keep a lot of wind out. They also need cleaned sometime...
