whats the torque setting for the head bolts on a L-134 engine an the torque pattern

Scott is correct. It is in that manual and the manual is free on our downloads page and we all know the manual is a must have when tearing down the engine.

There are some items one needs to consider:

1-Are you using studs or bolts?

2-Remember the torque figures given in the manual are for clean dry threads. And in most manuals they are for use with studs which have fine thread nuts. Bolted heads have coarse threaded bolts.

3-Be sure to apply Permatex #1 or 2 sealant to the threads of the bolts or studs just before you install them since several tapped holes are open to the water jackets. Leave the first 3 or 4 threads of the bolt or stud clean and dry.
